Molbaks in Lima

Each Saturday we are invited by Lavor and Marilyn Cardon (CCM presidents) to explore and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of Lima.  This last Saturday,  we visited a huge wholesale flower business and it made me homesick for Molbaks!  Flowers and plants love the climate in the highlands of Peru and they are perfecto!  The blossoms seem to be twice as big and the colors more vibrant.  Maybe that's because there are so many brown dirt hills around!  The roses are world famous and shipped everywhere!  Hope you enjoy the beautiful plants and flowers of the region and you probably have some like these in your yards!

Gorgeous orchids!

These children are trying to have fun, while their parents work!

They have amazing varieties of cactus.
African daisies flourish here!

Half the shops are fresh cut flowers!
The Peruvians buy a lot of flowers for their homes and especially for funerals.  They are very cheap!

These hydrangeas are twice the size at home and perfect!

July 28th is Peru's independence day, thus all the flags!

These are called Peruvian lilies and we call them ahlstrameria (spelling?) back home!

Flowers for a wedding!

I only found 2 small fuchsia plants, it must not be the right season.

I bought this huge cactus dish for 25 dollars.  It would have been $250 at Molbaks!

This was a very unusual flowering cactus plant!

The other fuchsia plant!

Cactus balls and some flowering varieties.

Roses and lilies everywhere!

This was $8!

South American roses are beautiful and are shipped all over the world!

I have not seen this kind and color of lily before!

They drove this car into the warehouse to decorate it for a wedding!

There were a few shops selling lovely arrangements!

My Molbaks buddies!

They make alot of bears, cats and dogs out of flowers!

This is a grandpa bear!

Look at the variety of cactus!

This hermana created my cactus dish!
