July 4th Celebration!

JULY 4th CELEBRATION!

It certainly was not like home, but it was still a reminder of the great blessing of being Americans!

Our celebration took place at the beautiful Lima Temple albergue.  The temple missionaries all live on the third floor in lovely spacious apartments.  The second floor is reserved for families, living outside of  Lima and needing to stay overnight.  The main floor has a nice reception area and cafeteria, where we had our BBQ.  The lower floor has a family history section and a nice distribution center.

We really had the red, white and blue splash and all the trimmings!

We had the flowers, frog eye salad, potato salad (Nanny's), and hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, and yummy desserts!

Max Simmons was the chef and wore his peruvian apron!

Mercedes Willis and Claudia Simmons were protecting the cupcakes!

It turned out to be a huge spread and these bakery buns were "to die for"!  Can you find the frog eye salad?  Susan Burt is inviting us to begin and someones hands are adding the cheese.

We all enjoyed sharing our family traditions on celebrating July 4th!

After dinner, we had a fun time with trivia questions about the flag and learned how to make a 5 pointed star out of a colored paper flag.

The brothers gathered together for a rare photo shoot and the women had a blast playing 13 Crowns!

All in all, it was nice to share this day with all our dear new friends!
